Message from the Chief

Message from the Chief of Police, David Morris

On behalf of the dedicated men and women of the Cheverly Police Department, thank you for visiting our website. The Town of Cheverly is a vibrant, close-knit, and diverse community of more than 6,000 residents, and it is our honor to serve and protect you each day. As Chief of Police, I am proud to lead a team of sworn officers and civilian staff who bring courage, compassion, and integrity to every call for service. In 2024, we responded to hundreds of calls, each one representing our ongoing commitment to keeping Cheverly safe and secure.

We proudly uphold the six pillars of 21st Century Policing. These principles are more than words. They are the foundation of how we serve and the guideposts that help us meet the highest standards of professionalism our community expects and deserves.

In 2025, our commitment to proactive problem solving remains strong. We do more than respond to incidents. We work closely with our residents to prevent them. We value our partnerships with residents and local organizations, and we encourage everyone to explore the resources and services we provide. Our website will continue to grow and adapt, making it easier to stay informed and connected.

Together, we can make Cheverly not only a safe place but also a welcoming home for all. I invite you to join us in fostering strong community ties, preventing crime, and looking out for one another. Please follow us on social media for timely updates, upcoming events, and important announcements.
