- As needed, quarterly at minimum. Meetings will be open to the public; however, the Commission will discuss ethics complaints, inquiries, and confidential business in closed session, in accordance with the Maryland Open Meetings Act.

Overview
The purpose of the Ethics Commission is to resolve the issues presented to it within the confines of the authority granted to it by the Town Code. The relevant portion of the Town Code can be found online.
The Town's Ethics Ordinance is found in Chapter 3 of the Town Code. This Ordinance was drafted by the State Ethics Commission and any changes to it must be approved by that body.
Cheverly Ethics Commission Operating Guidelines
This document, revised Oct. 20, 2025, sets the Mission, Vision, Purpose, and operating procedures for the Cheverly Ethics Commission. This document is public record, and can be updated at any time at the discretion of a majority of the Commission.
Ethics Complaints or Inquiries
If you need to file a complaint with the Ethics Commission, please download and complete this Ethics Complaint form and mail it with any supporting documents (retain copies for yourself) to Cheverly Ethics Commission, P.O. Box 1231, Hyattsville, MD 20785.

It is important that the process for filing an ethics complaint is followed to ensure the integrity of the process. Once a complaint/issue is brought forward, the Ethics Commission members will meet and address it pursuant to the requirements of the Ethics Ordinance.
